Maoling Museum

Maoling is located in Xingping County in Shaanxi Province, lies the grave of the Han emperor Wu Di (also known as Liu Che). The construction of the tomb was started in 139 BC, and the grave was declared a National Important Cultural Reserve. The museum includes Maoling the grave and exhibition halls of the relevant cultural artifacts and architecture. It covers about 50,000 square meters with a building area of 7,600 square meters. The style of the building copies of contemporary houses Han Dynasty.

Maoting The Museum currently has two exhibition halls. The east has rare objects from the grave Yangxin recovered, the western has a permanent exhibition shows the historical artifacts of the Western Han. Thewes Tern Han artifacts in two halls of 320 pieces, all of them excavated from the area of the protected environment of the Maoling Tomb. Very rare objects form about a third of the total.

The carved pillars and sculptures from this grave is one of the main attractions. These were done at the time and accompanied the funeral of the Emperor. Their artistry rivals such as other known pieces such as the Western Han horse trampling the Xiongnu sculpture: take a significant place in art history of world sculpture.

Currently, there are 3,500 objects in the collections of the museum. Most of these date from the early period of Western Han.
